Going Hiking or Camping? Make Sure You Pack Some CBD!

Now that the weather is really warming up, we are getting ready to enjoy two of our favorite outdoor pastimes: hiking and camping.  For those who enjoy the great outdoors, these two activities can do wonders for our physical and mental health.  Camping and hiking can both be extremely beneficial activities that allow you to get in touch with mother nature while benefiting from fresh air, exercise, unplugging, and relaxation.  And, we know from studies that spending time with mother nature has a significant positive effect on our overall well-being.

Why Consider Taking CBD on Your Next Hike or Camping Trip?

If you want to take these activities to the next level, bring some cannabidiol (CBD) along.  It’s natural, holistic, and can enhance our ability to enjoy our time in nature.  Being a cannabinoid in the hemp plant, it has unique properties that come from its ability to bind to the body’s cannabinoid receptors to regulate a wide array of processes pertaining to our physical and mental state.

Enhancing Your Oneness with Nature

Sometimes, the idea of leaving behind the stress of our daily lives to enjoy the present moment in a natural environment is easier said than done.  It’s just not always easy to switch off our high-stress minds in order to escape from the pressures of our normal environment.  But not being able to fully engage in nature when we have the opportunities to do so can leave us feeling less than fulfilled.  CBD has the ability to regulate cortisol levels in the brain, while regulating other crucial neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine.

Get a Good Night’s Sleep Outdoors

Many of us find that no matter how much we love camping, it’s a struggle to sleep soundly when we’re away from home.  Between the uncomfortable nature of most tents, the unpredictable sounds that occur at night and the lack of control over the temperature, it can be hard to get in a full eight hours.

However, CBD might be able to provide what we need to get a good night’s sleep.  This cannabinoid has been frequently shown in studies to balance neurotransmitters that pertain to our sleep cycle so that we may be able to achieve shuteye more easily and stay asleep throughout the night.

Enjoy a Boost That Can Take You to the Top of the Mountain

Cannabidiol may be able to help regulate energy levels due to the way in which the endocannabinoid system utilizes it.  This means that taking CBD right before a long hike may help you feel more motivated and energized.

Keep Your Muscles and Joints Feeling Their Best

Many of us have muscle tension throughout the body, and sometimes, it can interfere with our ability to genuinely enjoy our time spent outdoors.  If you struggle with localized tension in your body, topical CBD may be a great addition to your outdoor arsenal.  It can be easily applied to problem areas, allowing those compounds to absorb into the skin in no time.

Burns

Can occur from too much sun exposure or accidently burning yourself while creating a campfire.  CBD can help soothe the sting of a burn, plus limit inflammation while accelerating the healing process.

Cuts and Scrapes

CBD has been found to have antibacterial properties in order to help with bothersome cuts and scrapes that come when we are hiking or camping in the forest.

Bug Bites

Insect encounters can happen on any hiking or camping trip you go on.  Whether it’s mosquitoes, blackflies, spiders or ants, chances are campers will experience a bug bite at one point during their trip.  Preferably, CBD in a topical form has the ability to relieve a bug bite’s inflammation and itchy effects, allow you to continue having outdoor fun instead of scratching.

Tips for Embracing the Great Outdoors with CBD

With countless people engage in camping and hiking each summer, especially now that COVID restrictions have been lifted for the most part around the country, we are seeing more people taking CBD along for the trip. If you’re ready to pack some CBD for your next woodsy journey, these awesome Freed CBD products in a number of different delivery methods and milligram strengths are a must-have:

Before and after selecting one or more of these Freed CBD products, here are some brief tips to remember.

Tip #1: Discuss CBD with Your Doctor

While the hemp plant is nontoxic to the human body, your doctor knows your health best and can therefore offer medical advice pertaining to your unique situation.  Also, cannabinoids like CBD may suppress an enzyme known as CYP3A4, which is required to break down certain commonly used medications.  So, taking CBD may not be advisable if your doctor has you on a prescription.

Tip #2: Pack a Few Different CBD Products

Doing this can offer distinctive uses throughout your hike or camping trip.

  • Topical products can be applied directly to troublesome or sore areas in a more targeted approach.
  • Vaping products offer fast-acting, potent, and short-lived effects.
  • Tinctures, edibles, or capsules can take longer before becoming active but offer subtler effects that last for up to 6-8 hours.

Tip #3: Be Conscious of the Potency Level and Dosage Amount

CBD products are available in different milligram strengths, which affect the potency of every dose.

  • Anyone new to CBD should start with a low milligram strength.
  • Experienced CBD users can go with higher strengths as needed.

Also, follow the dosing instructions on the product’s packaging to ensure that you are taking the right amount daily.

Tip #4: Store Those CBD Products Properly in Your Backpack or Hiking Bag

Your CBD products should be stored in a safe compartment in your backpack or hiking bag.  However, when doing so:

  • Don’t let them get pressed against by other equipment or accessories.
  • The compartment they are put in is not exposed the sunlight.
  • Formulas are still remaining at a good temperature while being stored.
  • Avoid anything that could damage them (i.e., a glass tincture bottle bumping up against something that’s hard enough to cause the bottle to crack or shatter).
